F.A.Q
Is it guaranteed to see the aurora during the trip? Do you need to sign up for a tour?
The aurora is a purely natural phenomenon, not artificial light. There is no guarantee that you will be able to see the northern lights in all activities. The aurora season in Nordic is in mid-to-late September every year to the mid-April of the following year, it mainly depends on whether there is darkness. It cannot be observed during daytime, strong light pollution, or cloudy weather conditions. It is recommended to join a professional light-seeking group. The local guide has many years of observation experience and will drive to places with observation conditions to increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
When does the icebreaker activity start? Which icebreaker will you take on your trip? Can children go?
Icebreaker activities usually start from early December each year to early April of the following year. Currently running are Sampo and Arktis from Kemi, Finland, and Polar from Sweden. All icebreaker activities include sea floatation, ice walking (if the ice is thick enough) and icebreaker cruise certificates. The first choice for our itinerary is the Polar icebreaker, due to sailing schedule and other reasons, we arrange it according to the specific itinerary. Any age group can participate in this activity. The minimum size of the floatation suit is 125cm, so children below 125cm cannot participate in sea floating activities. There are no other restrictions.
How to upgrade a igroo?
The Glass House Hotel upgrade is available in Kemi, Levi, Rovaniemi and Saariselkä. Since it’s hard to find a room at the Glass House Hotel, especially in December, be sure to book in advance. Once the reservation is successful, it cannot be rescheduled or canceled.
Can I book activities on the day when we arrive at the location?
Most Nordic activities need to be booked 3-5 days in advance. During the peak season, there are usually no seats available for same-day registration, so please register as early as possible.
Can I definitely see whales during whale watching activities? Is lunch included?
Norwegian whales are not kept in captivity, so whale sightings are not guaranteed on this tour. Our experienced captain will search for whales whenever possible. If you don’t see any whales during your trip, you can book your another whale watching for free at our Norway Travel Shop in Tromso when you get back to the city on the same day. The itinerary does not include meals, so it is recommended to bring your own lunch. There is a small kioski store on the ship.
