Prices vary depending on group size, hotel standards, and how you'd like to tailor your itinerary.
We start the journey with a comfortable pickup from your Shanghai hotel, then head to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station for a smooth high-speed train ride to Huangshan North (around 2.5–3 hours). Sit back and relax as the city skyline gradually fades into peaceful countryside views—your escape to nature begins the moment you leave Shanghai.
Upon arrival at Huangshan North, your private guide and driver will be waiting at the exit, ready to assist with luggage and take you directly to Tangkou Town at the foot of Huangshan. No waiting, no confusion, just a seamless transition into your mountain adventure.
Once at the mountain base, we slow things down. Instead of rushing into the hike, we first enjoy a relaxed lunch featuring authentic Huizhou cuisine—think braised stone tofu, local cured meats, and fresh seasonal mountain vegetables. We carefully choose well-rated local restaurants, avoiding generic tourist meals, so you can eat well and recharge before the climb. A short rest follows to keep the afternoon journey comfortable and unhurried.
In the afternoon, we begin the ascent of Huangshan, the "No.1 Mountain under Heaven," using the most efficient and scenic route—cable car up combined with light ridge walking. This saves energy while still letting you fully enjoy the landscape. As soon as you step out above the clouds, the scenery unfolds like a living Chinese ink painting: jagged peaks, ancient pine trees clinging to cliffs, and drifting mist weaving through the valleys.
Your guide will lead a relaxed exploration of the core highlights, including the iconic Welcoming Pine, the dramatic views of Shixin Peak, and the wide-open ridges of Aoyu Peak. Unlike rushed group tours, we stay longer at key viewpoints, finding quieter angles for photos and sharing stories behind the landscape and its geology along the way.
As evening approaches, we position ourselves at the best available viewpoint for Huangshan's legendary sunset. With careful timing and local knowledge, your guide ensures you avoid the crowds and enjoy a front-row seat as golden light spreads across the sea of clouds, turning the mountain range into glowing layers of gold and orange.
After sunset, instead of rushing back down, we check in to a carefully selected summit hotel near Guangming Peak or Bai'e Ridge. Staying overnight on the mountain allows you to fully enjoy the peaceful high-altitude atmosphere after the day-trippers leave. In the quiet night, you can rest comfortably, listen to the mountain wind, and prepare for the magical sunrise above the clouds the next morning. Your guide will also brief you on sunrise timing and weather updates, making sure everything is taken care of for a smooth experience.
The biggest highlight of staying overnight on the summit is waking up right above the clouds for Huangshan's legendary sunrise. There's no early morning rush from the mountain foot and no fighting through crowds—just a short, easy walk from your hotel to a quiet viewing platform, where you wait for the first light to appear over the sea of clouds.
From soft fish-belly white to glowing pink and gold, the sky gradually opens as the sun rises above layered peaks, and the entire mountain range slowly awakens in warm light. It's calm, powerful, and unforgettable—the kind of moment day-trippers simply can't catch.
After sunrise, we enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the summit hotel before continuing a light exploration of Huangshan's remaining scenic highlights. The morning is often the best time for mist and sea-of-clouds views, giving you a completely different atmosphere from yesterday's afternoon scenery—softer, quieter, and more dreamlike.
We then take a scenic cableway descent, and your private car will be waiting at the mountain exit for a smooth transfer to Huangling Ancient Village (around 1.5 hours). Along the way, the landscape gradually shifts from dramatic mountain peaks to gentle rural countryside, marking a beautiful transition from grandeur to softness.
If Huangshan is a bold ink-wash painting of mountains and clouds, Huangling is a delicate countryside canvas full of color and life. Hidden in the hills of Wuyuan, the village is known for its layered terraces, traditional Hui-style architecture, and iconic "sun-drying" village scenery. Unlike overly commercialized ancient towns, it still keeps its slow, authentic rural rhythm.
Your guide will take you along quiet terrace paths and village lanes at an easy pace. You'll pass stone-paved alleys, centuries-old Hui-style houses with carved wooden details, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking rolling fields. Depending on the season, you might see golden rapeseed flowers, vibrant drying crops, or lush green terraces—each offering its own postcard-perfect scene.
We avoid crowded main streets and focus on quieter viewpoints, allowing you to truly slow down and enjoy the atmosphere. There's time to sit, take photos, or simply watch village life unfold at its natural rhythm.
At noon, we enjoy a locally sourced farm-style lunch at a well-selected restaurant in the village, featuring fresh mountain ingredients like river fish, seasonal vegetables, and bamboo shoots—simple, honest flavors that reflect the region.
After lunch, you'll have free time to explore Huangling at your own pace—wander through the charming village lanes, browse small local shops, relax by the terraces with a cup of tea, or discover more hidden photo spots without a fixed schedule.
In the late afternoon, we transfer you directly from Huangling to the nearby railway station, where your guide will assist with luggage and boarding arrangements. You then take a high-speed train back to Shanghai, enjoying a smooth and comfortable journey after two days of mountain scenery, ancient villages, and unforgettable landscapes.
By the time you return to Shanghai, you'll have experienced the best of both worlds—Huangshan's dramatic peaks and sea of clouds, together with Huangling's peaceful countryside charm. It's a perfectly balanced escape that combines nature, culture, and slow travel, leaving you with not only stunning photos but also lasting memories of China's most beautiful mountain landscapes and rural traditions.

Questions about Putuo Island
Hi Caelan,
Thank you for your questions! We really appreciate that you are interested in experiencing the deeper cultural side of Putuo Island. It is not only a Buddhist destination but also a beautiful island with forests, beaches, and coastal scenery.

2. There are no strict requirements for visitors, but we recommend dressing respectfully and keeping a quieter atmosphere inside the temples. Our guide will also explain some local customs and interesting stories behind the temples, making the visit more meaningful.
3. Absolutely. Besides temples, Putuo Island is famous for its beautiful coastline and natural landscapes. We will include time for seaside walks, scenic viewpoints, and relaxed moments by the ocean, so the experience is not only cultural but also enjoyable.
