After a delightful breakfast, kick off your profound ancestral root-seeking journey across Shenzhen with your dedicated guide. First, pay a solemn visit to the Zeng Clan Ancestral Hall. Serving as a vital spiritual homeland for descendants of the Zeng lineage, this time-honored ancestral hall features exquisite traditional Lingnan architectural craftsmanship, including delicate brick carvings, wooden beams, and ancient inscribed plaques. Well-preserved genealogical records and ancestral tablets are displayed inside, fully recording the migration history and clan evolution of the Zeng family. It is an indispensable sacred pilgrimage site for Singaporean and Malaysian overseas Chinese to worship ancestors and trace their family origins.

Next, wander around Fenghuang Ancient Village, a well-protected 600-year-old ancient Guangfu settlement. Retaining the original layout of ancient Lingnan villages, the village is lined with weathered grey-brick residences, quiet bluestone alleys, and simple ancestral shrines. Every ancient beam, carved window and old alley carries profound clan culture and historical traces. Away from the bustling city crowds, this primitive ancient village presents an authentic living scene of ancient Lingnan clans.

In the afternoon, head to Shenzhen Bay Park, a world-class coastal urban leisure corridor. Boasting vast sea views, lush mangrove forests and soft coastal breeze, the park offers a peaceful relaxing space. You can admire the stunning skyline of modern Shenzhen, overlook the boundless bay water, and enjoy the perfect integration of natural coastal scenery and urban architecture. After immersing yourself in ancient Hakka culture, shift your perspective to the modern side of Shenzhen. Head to the Ping An Finance Center Observation Deck, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Shenzhen. Standing at an ultra-high altitude, you will enjoy a breathtaking 360° panoramic city view. Overlook the interconnected urban clusters, dense modern buildings, and vast coastal landscapes, witnessing the astonishing urban development and vigorous vitality of this overseas Chinese hometown. The systematic exhibition hall intuitively records the origin, reproduction, and migration history of Lingnan ancestors. You can clearly understand the clan evolution and migration trajectory of Lingnan people, which greatly shortens the cultural distance for overseas Chinese tourists from Singapore and Malaysia to trace their ancestral roots.

Upon arriving in Guangzhou, the cultural heart of Lingnan region, begin your cultural tour with a visit to the Chen Clan Academy. As the largest and most well-preserved ancestral complex in China, this time-honored mansion serves as a sacred ancestral shrine for overseas Chen descendants from Singapore and Malaysia. Marvel at the breathtaking Lingnan folk art, including intricate wood carvings, delicate brick carvings, vivid stone carvings and stunning glazed tiles. Every exquisite decoration carries auspicious traditional meanings and ancient folk stories, perfectly showcasing the supreme craftsmanship of traditional Cantonese architecture.

After exploring the ancestral mansion, continue your spiritual journey to Liurong Temple. Boasting a history of more than 1,500 years, it is one of the oldest and most influential Buddhist temples in Guangzhou. The temple is famous for its elegant ancient pagoda, lush banyan trees and tranquil courtyard atmosphere. Many overseas Chinese come here to pray for peace, blessings and good fortune. Start your journey with Langtou Ancient Village, a well-kept hidden gem of Lingnan clan civilization. These densely distributed ancestral buildings adopt classic Lingnan architectural techniques, featuring grey brick walls, carved eaves, delicate stone carvings and ancient horizontal inscribed boards. Each hall records unique clan lineage stories, ancestral deeds and historical inheritance. Wandering through the quiet village alleys, you can observe the solemn ancestral worship layout and well-preserved genealogical relics. It serves as an invaluable sacred place for Singaporean and Malaysian overseas Chinese to worship ancestors, trace bloodline origins and deeply appreciate the charm of traditional Cantonese clan culture.

Today's itinerary focuses on laid-back countryside scenery, rustic village charm, and down-to-earth folk culture, presenting a different side of Guangdong's ancestral heritage.

Kick off your rural exploration at Shawan Ancient Town, a picturesque millennium-old water town celebrated as the cradle of Cantonese folk art. Unlike solemn ancestral villages, this lively old town is encircled by gentle streams, lined with polished bluestone lanes, quaint folk workshops and age-old ancestral shrines. Your attentive guide will lead you deep into the less-trodden quiet alleys, sharing interesting local folklore, traditional festival customs and the inheritance of Cantonese intangible cultural heritage. Observe delicate ancient carvings, vintage opera stages and handcraft studios, and soak up the simple, slow-paced rural lifestyle that once defined Lingnan villages.

Leaving the artistic water town behind, continue your trip to the hidden gem of Julong Village. Tucked away among lush farmlands and clear ponds, this well-preserved ancient village features neat Ming and Qing-style courtyard houses and elegant memorial archways. Boasting a streamlined village layout and superior natural feng shui, it remains untouched by excessive commercialization. Your guide will break down the unique architectural logic and ancient clan migration stories of this quiet settlement, allowing you to easily comprehend the living wisdom of early Cantonese ancestors. With peaceful pastoral views and fresh natural surroundings, this hidden village offers a tranquil retreat to quietly connect with your ancestral rural roots.

A peaceful escape from Hangzhou

We wanted to visit Putuo Mountain but were worried about the complicated transportation connections from Hangzhou. This private tour made everything much easier. The driver picked us up from our hotel in the morning, helped us with the ferry transfer, and explained what to expect before arriving on the island. Putuo Mountain itself was beautiful and peaceful. Walking through the temples surrounded by trees and hearing the ocean nearby was a very special experience. We never felt rushed, which made the trip much more enjoyable.

Questions about Putuo Island

Hi, I'm interested in this private tour because we would like to experience the cultural side of Putuo Island rather than just visit the famous spots. I have a few questions:
1. Are the temples on Putuo Island very crowded? Is there a better time of day to visit them?
2. Do we need to follow any special rules when visiting Buddhist temples?
3. Will we have time to enjoy the seaside scenery, or is the itinerary mainly focused on temples?

Hi Caelan,
Thank you for your questions! We really appreciate that you are interested in experiencing the deeper cultural side of Putuo Island. It is not only a Buddhist destination but also a beautiful island with forests, beaches, and coastal scenery.
1. The main temples, especially Puji Temple, can become busy during weekends and holiday periods. To provide a better experience, our guide will usually arrange the sightseeing order according to crowd levels and opening times, allowing you to enjoy quieter moments whenever possible.
2. There are no strict requirements for visitors, but we recommend dressing respectfully and keeping a quieter atmosphere inside the temples. Our guide will also explain some local customs and interesting stories behind the temples, making the visit more meaningful.
3. Absolutely. Besides temples, Putuo Island is famous for its beautiful coastline and natural landscapes. We will include time for seaside walks, scenic viewpoints, and relaxed moments by the ocean, so the experience is not only cultural but also enjoyable.

We would be happy to help you discover a more authentic side of Putuo Island!

One of the best nature trips we have taken in China

Guizhou was a fantastic choice for travelers who want something different from the usual China itinerary. Libo Xiaoqikong was like a natural paradise — clear rivers, waterfalls, and green forests everywhere.
The communication before the trip was excellent. The team answered our questions quickly and helped us prepare for the journey. During the tour, everything was organized but still felt flexible and personal.

A wonderful journey

We traveled as a family and were impressed by how smoothly everything was arranged. The route included beautiful landscapes but was not too exhausting. My favorite part was probably the evening in Huanggang Village. It was very different from the places we had visited before — quiet, traditional, and welcoming. We really enjoyed learning about Dong culture from our guide.
Thank you for making our Guizhou trip so comfortable and memorable.
