Welcome to Shanghai! Upon your arrival at the airport or train station, your private guide and driver will meet you at the designated exit and transfer you comfortably to your hotel.
Before heading into the city, you can choose to experience one of Shanghai's most unique transportation wonders — the Shanghai Maglev Train. Running between Pudong International Airport and Longyang Road Station, the Shanghai Maglev is one of the world's fastest commercial high-speed trains, reaching a maximum speed of 431 km/h. Instead of wheels running on tracks, the train uses magnetic levitation technology, creating a smooth "floating" feeling as it speeds through the city.
It's not only a convenient transfer option but also a fun introduction to Shanghai's futuristic spirit. If your arrival time matches the operating schedule, we can arrange this experience as an optional add-on before continuing to your hotel.
After check-in and some rest, the evening is yours to enjoy. Shanghai's nightlife offers many different experiences depending on your interests.
Optional Evening Activities:
Watch a Shanghai Acrobatic Show
For a memorable first night, we recommend watching a spectacular Shanghai acrobatic performance.
The show combines traditional Chinese acrobatics with modern stage design, featuring breathtaking acts such as the famous "Balls of Death," chair balancing, hula hoop performances, juggling with benches, walking in the air, and other gravity-defying stunts. Your guide can assist with ticket booking and transportation arrangements, so you can simply relax and enjoy the evening.
After breakfast, your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and begin your in-depth exploration of Shanghai — a city where ancient Chinese traditions, colonial history, and futuristic architecture come together in one unique urban landscape.
Your first stop is the Shanghai Museum, one of China's most renowned museums and a perfect place to start understanding the country's rich cultural heritage. Instead of simply walking through the exhibitions, your guide will help you discover the stories behind the collections, including ancient Chinese bronzeware, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, and traditional artworks. The museum itself is also a fascinating landmark. Its distinctive circular design represents the ancient Chinese concept of "round heaven and square earth," creating a meaningful connection between architecture and traditional philosophy. With your guide's explanations, you'll gain a deeper appreciation of China's history rather than just viewing the exhibits.
After the museum visit, enjoy lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant. Your guide will introduce you to authentic Shanghai flavors and recommend dishes based on your preferences, from classic local specialties such as Shanghai-style braised pork and soup dumplings to seasonal dishes loved by locals. We arrange the meal at a comfortable pace, allowing you to recharge before continuing your afternoon exploration.
In the afternoon, continue to Yu Garden, one of Shanghai's most beautiful examples of traditional Chinese garden design. Hidden among the busy streets of the old city, this peaceful garden offers a completely different atmosphere from Shanghai's modern skyline. Walking through its elegant pavilions, rockeries, ponds, and winding corridors, you'll discover the delicate design principles behind classical Chinese gardens.
After exploring Yu Garden, take some time to stroll through the surrounding City God Temple area, where historic streets, traditional shops, and local snacks showcase the charm of old Shanghai. Your guide will help you navigate the area and point out interesting details that are easy to miss when exploring on your own.
Next, head to Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China and one of the most impressive skyscrapers in the world. Taking the high-speed elevator to the observation deck, you'll enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Shanghai's skyline. From above, you can clearly see the contrast between the historic neighborhoods of Puxi and the futuristic skyscrapers of Pudong, including the Oriental Pearl Tower and the winding Huangpu River. Your guide will share stories about Shanghai's transformation from a small trading port into a global financial hub, helping you understand how the city developed into the international metropolis you see today.
As the afternoon turns into evening, continue to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, Shanghai's most famous commercial avenue. The bright lights, historic department stores, and lively atmosphere make it one of the best places to experience the energy of modern Shanghai.
A short walk away is the iconic The Bund, where your Shanghai journey reaches one of its most memorable moments. Standing beside the Huangpu River, you'll admire the remarkable contrast between the European-style historic buildings along the Bund and the futuristic skyline of Pudong across the water. The view becomes especially magical as the city lights gradually illuminate the skyline, creating the classic Shanghai night scene that has inspired travelers for generations.
After enjoying the Bund and taking photos of the stunning riverside views, your private driver will transfer you back to your hotel. Your guide will make sure you return comfortably and safely, allowing you to relax after a full day of discovery.
Today is designed differently. Instead of following a fixed route, you'll have a free day to experience Shanghai at your own pace. We believe some of the city's best moments happen when you slow down — sitting in a neighborhood café, walking through tree-lined streets, or discovering a small shop hidden in an old lane.
Your guide will provide personalized recommendations, transportation tips, and local suggestions based on your interests. Here are some of our favorite places:
Starbucks Reserve Roastery
Located on West Nanjing Road, Starbucks Reserve Roastery Shanghai is one of the largest Starbucks stores in the world. Beyond coffee, it is an experience combining roasting demonstrations, modern design, and Shanghai's urban lifestyle. The huge copper roasting machine in the center is especially impressive. It's a perfect stop for coffee lovers or anyone wanting a relaxing break.
North Bund
For a quieter alternative to the crowded Bund, visit North Bund.
Here you can enjoy one of the best views of Pudong's skyline, including Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower, often with fewer crowds. It is especially beautiful around sunset when the city lights gradually turn on across the river.
Wukang Road
Wukang Road is one of Shanghai's most charming streets. Walking beneath the old plane trees, you'll discover historic villas, former residences of famous figures, small cafés, and local boutiques. This area shows a slower and more elegant side of Shanghai — very different from the busy downtown streets.
Tianzifang
Located in the former French Concession area, Tianzifang is a maze of narrow lanes filled with art studios, handmade shops, cafés, and traditional Shanghai houses. Although it has become popular, the charm comes from seeing how old residential buildings have been transformed into creative spaces.
Your guide can suggest the best walking routes and help you avoid the busiest areas.
After breakfast, your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and begin your final day of Shanghai exploration.
Your first stop is the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre, a hidden cultural gem located inside a residential neighborhood. Unlike Shanghai's grand museums and iconic attractions, this small but unique museum offers a fascinating look into China's social history through a collection of original propaganda posters from different periods of the 20th century. With your guide's explanations, you'll learn the historical background behind these colorful artworks and understand how posters reflected changes in society, culture, and daily life. This visit provides a deeper perspective on modern China and allows you to see a side of Shanghai that many visitors miss.
After the museum visit, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Your guide will help you choose authentic Shanghai dishes based on your preferences, offering one more opportunity to experience the city's local flavors before your departure.
In the afternoon, continue to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, where you'll explore how Shanghai has transformed from a historic river port into one of the world's most dynamic international cities. Through detailed exhibitions, interactive displays, and impressive architectural models, you'll gain a better understanding of Shanghai's past, present, and future development. The large-scale city model is one of the highlights of the visit, allowing you to see the complete layout of Shanghai and how different districts, landmarks, and transportation networks connect together. Your guide will share insights into the city's rapid growth, including the development of Pudong, the preservation of historic neighborhoods, and Shanghai's vision for the future. It is a great final stop to reflect on everything you have experienced during your 4-day journey.
After the tour, your private driver will transfer you comfortably to Shanghai airport or the train station according to your departure schedule. Your guide will assist with luggage and make sure your departure transfer is smooth and stress-free.
As your Shanghai adventure comes to an end, we hope this journey has given you not only beautiful memories and photos, but also a deeper understanding of the city's history, culture, and unique character.
