We pick you up at your hotel early in the morning and head straight to Tiananmen Square, the iconic heart of Beijing. Pass through the grand square to enter the Palace Museum (Forbidden City), the world-famous imperial palace. Accompanied by your professional guide, explore magnificent imperial palaces, exquisite pavilions and ancient courtyards, while learning vivid historical stories of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Spend around 2.5 hours wandering the well-preserved royal complex and admiring precious cultural relics. Finish the Forbidden City visit at noon, perfect for a relaxed local lunch nearby.
After lunch, stroll north to Jingshan Park, the highest central viewpoint in downtown Beijing. Climb to the summit pavilion to enjoy a stunning panoramic full view of the Forbidden City's golden roof clusters and Beijing's urban skyline, the best spot to overlook the entire imperial city layout.
In the late afternoon and early evening, transfer to Shichahai, the most authentic old Beijing lake and hutong area. Wander the quiet lakeside ancient hutongs, view traditional courtyard residences and swaying willow trees. As dusk falls, the lake and alleys are lit up with soft lights, creating a peaceful retro atmosphere. You can taste authentic Beijing snacks, visit delicate craft shops and experience slow local hutong life before returning to your hotel.
Start the day with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO-listed royal worship complex. Marvel at the circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests with unique ancient wooden architecture, and learn about the emperors' sacrificial rituals held here hundreds of years ago.
Then drive to the Summer Palace, the largest and most elegant royal garden in China. Glide across Kunming Lake on a private boat, stroll the famous Long Corridor covered in thousands of traditional paintings, and climb Wanshou Mountain for wide lake and mountain views.
In the evening, we head to Qianmen Street, a time-honored commercial pedestrian street lined with ancient archways and century-old local brands. Taste signature Beijing food, browse traditional handicrafts and take photos with old Beijing-style architecture before heading back to the hotel.
After an early breakfast, depart for Mutianyu Great Wall, a well-preserved UNESCO Great Wall section with fewer crowds and lush mountain scenery. One-way transfer takes about 1 hour. Take the included round-trip cable car uphill to avoid exhausting steep climbing. Walk along wide, intact ramparts between No.14 and No.17 Watchtowers, capture classic postcard views of winding walls layered over green mountains. The guide will share Ming Dynasty frontier defense stories during your hike.
After finishing the wall sightseeing, enjoy a simple local farm lunch nearby, then drive back to downtown Beijing. Drop you off at your hotel or designated location, marking the end of your 3-day Beijing classic tour.

Questions about Putuo Island
Hi Caelan,
Thank you for your questions! We really appreciate that you are interested in experiencing the deeper cultural side of Putuo Island. It is not only a Buddhist destination but also a beautiful island with forests, beaches, and coastal scenery.
1. The main temples, especially Puji Temple, can become busy during weekends and holiday periods. To provide a better experience, our guide will usually arrange the sightseeing order according to crowd levels and opening times, allowing you to enjoy quieter moments whenever possible.
2. There are no strict requirements for visitors, but we recommend dressing respectfully and keeping a quieter atmosphere inside the temples. Our guide will also explain some local customs and interesting stories behind the temples, making the visit more meaningful.
3. Absolutely. Besides temples, Putuo Island is famous for its beautiful coastline and natural landscapes. We will include time for seaside walks, scenic viewpoints, and relaxed moments by the ocean, so the experience is not only cultural but also enjoyable.
We would be happy to help you discover a more authentic side of Putuo Island!
