Day 1: Beijing Arrival | Nan Luogu Xiang & Leisure Strolling

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Arrive in Beijing, the imperial capital of Ming and Qing dynasties with over 3,000 years of history and the city with the most World Heritage Sites on Earth. Enjoy hassle-free private airport transfer and smooth hotel check-in with no rigid schedules. Use this day to adapt to the northern city vibe and local climate.

We highly recommend Nan Luogu Xiang, a well-preserved Yuan Dynasty hutong block less commercialized than crowded tourist streets. The chessboard-style courtyard alleys retain original Beijing folk texture. Wander century-old snack stalls, taste classic northern specialties like Peking duck rolls, fried tripe and sour plum soup, and browse traditional handicraft shops and cultural creative stores. You can stroll quiet side hutongs, visit former residences of cultural masters, capture warm street scenes filled with ordinary people's fireworks, and lay a solid warm foundation for the following deep cultural exploration of Beijing's royal heritage.

Day 2: Beijing | Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Start at Tiananmen Square, the heart of modern Beijing, a grand open square carrying profound national history. Take photos of the iconic Tiananmen Rostrum, the Monument to the People's Heroes and the National Museum to feel the solemn momentum of the capital's central axis.

Next, visit the Forbidden City (Palace Museum), the largest and best-preserved wooden imperial palace complex in the world, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage spanning 600 years of Ming and Qing royal history. Follow the central axis to explore the Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony and Hall of Preserving Harmony—the grand ceremonial halls for imperial coronations and grand rituals. Then walk through the inner palaces where emperors and empresses lived, appreciate exquisite ancient wooden carvings, glazed tile roofs, jade treasures and ancient paintings displayed in the Treasure Gallery and Clock Gallery. With professional guided explanations, you can sort out the complete context of ancient Chinese royal etiquette and architectural art.

In the afternoon, head to the Temple of Heaven, the largest ancient sacrificial complex in China where emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties prayed for good harvests. Wander the circular Echo Wall, the Imperial Vault of Heaven and the grand Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, marvel at the perfect combination of geometric symmetry and sacred sacrificial design, and appreciate the ancient Chinese philosophy of harmony between heaven and mankind.

Conclude the day at Qianmen Ancient Street, a time-honored commercial block full of old Beijing charm. Roam century-old brand stores, taste traditional candied hawthorns and local snacks, and browse vintage Beijing folk souvenirs before returning to the hotel.

Day 3: Beijing to Zhangjiajie | High-Speed Rail Transfer & Tujia Folk Street

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Take a comfortable high-speed train from Beijing to Zhangjiajie, transferring from the bold northern imperial atmosphere to the ethereal subtropical mountain wonderland of Hunan. The intercity trip takes roughly 6 hours with spacious seats and catering services on board. Upon arrival, private shuttle service picks you up at the station and transfers to the downtown hotel.

The rest of the day is free for casual local exploration. Stroll the downtown Tujia Folk Street, admire distinctive stilt house decorations, watch folk handicraftsmen making Tujia brocade and silver ornaments, and sample authentic Hunan spicy cuisine including cured pork, wild mushroom hot pot and local rice noodles.

Optional Activity: You can also choose to watch the immersive Charming Xiangxi folk performance at night, featuring Tujia love songs, stilt house dance and thrilling stunts, fully immersing yourself in the unique ethnic customs of western Hunan.

Day 4: Zhangjiajie | Tianmen Mountain Scenic Day Tour

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Today's itinerary unveils the legendary "Soul of Zhangjiajie"—Tianmen Mountain, a national 5A-level sacred mountain honored as the "Hanging Garden in the Sky". Renowned for the world's highest natural mountain-piercing cave Tianmen Cave, winding 99-bend mountain road, glass cliff walkway and endless sea of clouds, it gathers wonder, steepness, grace and seclusion in one scenic zone.

Board the long mountain cableway ascending over 10 kilometers to the upper viewing platform, overlooking layered mountain ridges and boundless forest valleys. Walk the famous glass plank road clinging to vertical cliffs, standing thousands of meters above the valley floor for a heart-stopping panoramic view of mist-shrouded peaks. Visit Tianmen Temple hidden in the alpine basin, a tranquil ancient Buddhist temple surrounded by primeval woods. Hike the Ghost Valley Plank Road along the mountain waist, passing through dense vegetation and natural stone grottos to capture changing cloud and fog landscapes.

Descend via the mountain escalator running through Tianmen Cave, then walk down the 999 Heaven Stairs facing the giant natural cave opening—a spectacular natural landmark that has attracted global wing-suit flying events. All mountain transportation including cableways, cliff escalators and scenic shuttle buses are fully covered in the tour package, no extra charges required.

Travel Tips:
1. The mountaintop has a large temperature gap with the city; carry a thin windbreaker. Fog often appears in the morning, bringing fairy-tale scenery but slippery walkways.
2. The glass plank road requires shoe covers provided on-site; do not lean over railings for safety.
3. Elderly visitors with fear of heights can skip the glass walkway and take alternative forest trails arranged by guides.

Day 5: Zhangjiajie | National Forest Park & Yuanjiajie Scenic Area

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Dive deep into the core of Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage—Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, the prototype filming location of Pandora's Hallelujah Mountain in Avatar, famous for its rare vertical quartz sandstone peak forest landscape known as "miniature fairyland, enlarged bonsai".

Take the Bailong Elevator—the world's highest outdoor sightseeing elevator with a vertical drop of 335 meters—to reach Yuanjiajie's viewing platform in just two minutes, saving exhausting mountain climbing. Visit the iconicQiankun Pillar (Hallelujah Mountain), a solitary stone peak piercing the cloud sea, the star attraction of the whole park. Wander the Enchanted Platform, the best spot to overlook layered clusters of floating peaks, and walk across the No.1 Natural Bridge under heaven, a natural stone arch spanning two cliff ridges surrounded by ancient pines and drifting mist.

Professional guides will lead you to hidden photo spots for sea of clouds and peak forest panoramas, explaining the 380-million-year geological evolution of Zhangjiajie landform and local Tujia mountain legends. Scenic shuttle buses within the forest park are all included for convenient transfers between viewing spots.

Optional Activity: Immerse yourself in authentic local intangible cultural heritage with exclusive folk handcraft experiences! Under the professional guidance of seasoned local Tujia craftsmen with decades of experience, you can personally engage in hand-painted Tujia silver ornaments or traditional bamboo weaving. From simple material polishing, pattern drafting to delicate hand painting and weaving shaping, every step allows you to feel the unique charm of Tujia traditional folk art. You can customize exclusive patterns full of ethnic characteristics and mountain elements, creating one-of-a-kind handmade artworks. Take your self-made delicate silver ornaments or eco-friendly bamboo crafts home as precious, personalized travel souvenirs, keeping the unique memories of Zhangjiajie's peak forest scenery and Tujia folk customs forever.

In the late afternoon, wander the lively Xibu Ancient Street, a characteristic Tujia water town block decorated with hanging lanterns and stilt houses. Taste wild mountain snacks, watch folk shadow play and Tujia singing performances, and browse ethnic silver jewelry and hand-woven scarves before returning to the hotel.

Day 6: Zhangjiajie | Golden Whip Stream & Waterfront Sightseeing

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Today's tour focuses on Golden Whip Stream, hailed as "the most beautiful canyon under heaven" and praised as "Zhangjiajie's Maiden" by the great writer Shen Congwen. The 7.5-kilometer valley trail winds along crystal-clear mountain brooks, flanked by towering strange peaks, green bamboo forests and wild flowers, with clear water reflecting thousands of stone summits, forming a scroll of living Chinese landscape painting.

Start from the Oxygen Bar Square and stroll downstream along the stream path. Pass classic scenic spots including Golden Whip Rock, Eagle Guarding the Whip, Purple Grass Pool and Meeting at a Thousand Li. Watch wild macaques playing along the riverbank, listen to mountain birds singing in the woods, and feel the cool negative oxygen breeze from the valley. The shallow stream allows gentle water play in designated safe zones, perfect for relaxing photography and escaping summer heat.

After finishing the Golden Whip Stream hiking route, visit Shuidongmen Waterfall at the valley exit, where mountain water cascades down layered rock cliffs, creating misty water spray under sunlight. You can take a short leisure boat trip on the gentle stream to appreciate the peak forest landscape from the water surface, a unique viewing angle unavailable on land trails.

In the afternoon, enjoy free leisure time in Wulingyuan Town. You can shop for local specialties such as wild tea, dried mushrooms and chestnuts, or rest at a tea house to taste Zhangjiajie wild mountain tea and watch Tujia folk handcraft demonstrations.

Much more fun than I expected

I booked this mostly because my husband is obsessed with anything involving AI, but I ended up enjoying it just as much. The driverless taxi was the biggest surprise — sitting inside and watching the car make its own decisions felt a little strange at first! The robot dog was also hilarious. Our guide explained things without making it feel like a technology lecture, which I really appreciated.

Thanks, Eamon! We love hearing that the tour surprised you in the best way. The driverless taxi can feel a little odd at first, but once you settle in, it's a pretty memorable experience. Glad you both had fun exploring Shenzhen's tech side!

The trains made the route surprisingly easy

I had never traveled around China by high-speed train before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we got the hang of it, it was actually one of the easiest parts of the trip. Having someone meet us at the stations was especially helpful because some of the stations are enormous. We could just get off the train, find our driver and move on.

Thanks, Marlowe! Glad to hear our train journeys turned out to be easier than expected. Those big stations can definitely feel a bit overwhelming at first, so it's great to hear that having our driver there made things smoother. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip!

A Photographer's Kind of Day

If you like old architecture, bring a camera. Badaguan was probably my favorite part because every street seemed to have a slightly different look. The church and railway station were also great photo stops. I liked that the tour wasn't only about famous sights — there was plenty of time to notice small details along the way.

Thanks, Soren! We're delighted that the architectural side of Qingdao caught your eye. The city has so many small details that are easy to miss when you're in a hurry.

Definitely earned its reputation

I knew Mount Tai would be the big highlight for me, but it was still better than expected. The views kept changing as we went higher, and there was something really special about seeing the old temples and inscriptions along the mountain. The whole trip was also very well organized. We had enough time at each place without feeling like we were constantly watching the clock.
