The suburban drive takes approximately one hour with smooth highway traffic. Spend roughly two and a half hours exploring this world-famous landmark. As the most fully restored and mature section of the Great Wall, Badaling features solid and wide ramparts, orderly watchtowers and sweeping layered mountain views. You can hike upward at your own pace, take panoramic photos of winding wall ridges stretching across mountain ranges, and feel the grand defensive momentum of ancient Chinese military engineering. The guide will share the Ming Dynasty border defense system, construction history and interesting folklore stories along the way.
In the afternoon, transfer back to the urban area, and the ride from Badaling to Summer Palace takes around one hour. Visit the stunning Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. Reserve around two and a half hours for in-depth wandering and sightseeing. Enter through the main gate and stroll along the world's longest painted corridor, featuring thousands of traditional Chinese painted stories and classic landscape patterns. 2. There are no strict requirements for visitors, but we recommend dressing respectfully and keeping a quieter atmosphere inside the temples. Our guide will also explain some local customs and interesting stories behind the temples, making the visit more meaningful.
