Your driver and English guide will pick you up at your Hangzhou hotel early in the morning, then drive about 2 hours north to Suzhou ancient city. Your guide will introduce Wu culture, garden design knowledge and today's travel schedule on the way.
Arrive at the old town before 10:00, first visit Humble Administrator's Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest of China's Four Great Classical Gardens. Roam winding covered corridors, lotus ponds, elegant pavilions and exquisite rockeries, experiencing the poetic layout of Ming Dynasty landscape design. The sightseeing lasts roughly 1.5 hours.
A short 5-minute walk leads to Suzhou Museum, a landmark architectural masterpiece designed by I.M. Pei. It perfectly combines traditional white-wall black-tile Suzhou style with minimalist modern geometry. Browse precious Wu cultural relics, ancient porcelain and ink paintings, and capture artistic architectural photos inside and outside the museum for around 1 hour.
After a relaxing local Su-style lunch nearby, transfer east to Jinji Lake, the iconic modern urban lake of Suzhou. Walk along the lakeside waterfront to appreciate the landmark Gate of the East skyscraper. Stay until sunset to capture golden glow reflecting on the lake surface, and watch the bright city light-up after dusk. Free leisure time for lakeside walking and photography for about 1.5 hours.
As night falls, we head to Shantang Street (Seven-Mile Shantang), hailed as "No.1 Ancient Street in Jiangnan". Stone canals, grey tile houses and red lanterns form a classic ink-wash water town scene. Wander flagstone lanes, taste local specialties like crab cakes and osmanthus pastries, browse Suzhou embroidery and handcraft stalls, or take a short canal boat ride to enjoy glowing water reflections. The night tour lasts about 1 hour.
After finishing all sightseeing, our private car drives back to your designated hotel in Hangzhou, ending your wonderful one-day Suzhou private trip.
