After breakfast, your professional English guide and driver will greet you at your hotel lobby with a warm welcome and detailed briefing of today's cultural and scenic route.

Cruise West Lake

You will first cruise West Lake, China's most iconic UNESCO World Heritage lake, where nature and poetry merge into a timeless masterpiece. We drive directly to a quiet, exclusive lakeside pier (avoiding crowded public docks) and board your private boat. Glide over calm, mirror-like water lined with weeping willows, drifting past the legendary Su Causeway, Bai Causeway, blooming lotus ponds and the world-famous Three Pools Mirroring the Moon. Your guide delivers in-depth cultural commentary: narrating ancient imperial stories of emperors and poets, reciting classic poems inspired by the lake, pointing out hidden scenic details and guiding you to capture postcard-perfect photos at the best light angles. The private boat allows you to pause anytime, relax and absorb the misty lake charm without any rush.

Wander Guo's Garden

Next, drive 5 minutes along the lakeshore to Guo's Garden, one of Hangzhou's best-preserved classical Jiangnan gardens and a hidden gem away from mass crowds. Your guide leads you through elegant winding covered corridors, serene lotus ponds, delicate pavilions and rare Taihu rockeries, explaining the profound Jiangnan garden design philosophy—the art of "borrowed scenery" that seamlessly blends lake views and garden landscapes. Admire intricate carved railings, lush foliage and peaceful waterfront terraces; your guide shares the garden's historical evolution, ancient owner's stories and subtle aesthetic details most tourists miss, helping you understand the harmony between human and nature in traditional Chinese gardening.

Discover Meijiawu Tea Village

After the garden visit, drive 20 minutes into the rolling green hills to Meijiawu Tea Village, a 600-year-old authentic Longjing tea village—the birthplace of premium Dragon Well tea. Your guide will lead you on a gentle walk through the terraced tea hills, offering sweeping mountain views and plenty of photo opportunities. During tea season, you'll watch local farmers hand-pluck tender tea leaves and roast them over charcoal using age-old methods. Outside harvest time, your guide will give a detailed introduction to the full tea-making process, from planting and picking to roasting and grading. You'll then visit a local family tea house to taste authentic, freshly brewed Longjing tea, experiencing its pure aroma and smooth flavor firsthand.

Explore Hu Xueyan's Former Residence

After lunch, drive 25 minutes to Hu Xueyan's Former Residence, the grand 5,800㎡ mansion built by the Qing Dynasty's legendary "Red Top Merchant" and a masterpiece of Chinese residential architecture. With skip-the-line entry, your guide leads you through lavish living quarters, elegant study halls and secluded private gardens, delivering vivid stories of Hu's legendary rise from a poor boy to a national tycoon, his business empire and opulent lifestyle. Admire the perfect blend of Jiangnan elegance and Western architectural details: delicate wood carvings, intricate brick art, painted corridors and crystal chandeliers. Your guide highlights hidden luxury details and craftsmanship techniques, explaining the cultural significance of each decorative element and the mansion's role in reflecting late Qing Dynasty wealth and taste. Please don't worry about the reservation issues. Our tour guides will handle the reservations for you in advance, so you just need to enjoy the journey.

Visit China National TCM Museum

Then drive 15 minutes to China National TCM Museum, China's largest and most comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine museum preserving 5,000 years of holistic healing wisdom. Your English guide simplifies complex TCM concepts, guiding you through exhibition halls with clear explanations of rare ancient medical texts, precious herbal specimens, ancient acupuncture tools and interactive exhibits. Learn about the evolution of Chinese wellness culture, the philosophy of "preventive medicine" and TCM's modern global influence. Your guide answers all your questions about TCM health concepts, making this profound ancient culture easy to understand and appreciate.

Roam Hefang Street

In the evening, drive 20 minutes to Hefang Street, a 1,000-year-old pedestrian street that is the beating heart of old Hangzhou's folk culture. Lined with well-preserved Ming-Qing wooden buildings and swaying red lanterns, the street blends traditional charm with authentic local life. Your guide shares old Hangzhou folk stories, introduces time-honored snack stalls and traditional craft shops, and recommends hidden food spots with genuine local flavors (such as sweet osmanthus cakes and crispy shrimp crackers). Stroll leisurely along flagstone lanes, browse handcrafted silk, jade and paper cuttings, and interact with local craftsmen. Your guide also gives insider tips to avoid tourist traps, letting you experience the warm, down-to-earth atmosphere of ancient Hangzhou. After the tour, drive back to your hotel.

Optional Night Activity: Impression West Lake, Zhang Yimou's iconic outdoor lake live show on West Lake. Our guide pre-books premium unobstructed seats, offers skip-the-line service & private hotel round transfers. Flexible to arrange after daytime sightseeing or pair with lakeside dinner for complete Hangzhou night tours.

Day 2 Hangzhou: Lingyin Temple, Feilai Peak & Xixi Wetland Park

Accommodation Accommodation:
A standard room
MealMeal:
Hotel breakfast

After breakfast, your guide and driver pick you up again and drive comfortably into the misty Lingyin Mountains. En route, your guide narrates the 1,700-year Buddhist history of Lingyin Temple, ancient religious legends and the temple's role as the "Soul of Southeast China Buddhism".

Visit Lingyin Temple & Feilai Peak

First, visit Lingyin Temple & Feilai Peak, the most sacred Buddhist site in East China. Nestled in a lush mountain valley, Lingyin Temple features majestic halls with golden Buddha statues, ancient stone pagodas, serene courtyards and towering old trees. Your guide leads you through quiet, crowd-free paths, explaining Buddhist symbolism, temple architecture and religious rituals, and sharing touching Buddhist stories and local pilgrimage customs. Adjacent to the temple, Feilai Peak hides over 160 well-preserved Song-Yuan Dynasty stone carvings in cool limestone caves. Wander through the grottos, admire intricate Buddha and arhat statues carved on rock faces, and listen to your guide's detailed interpretation of the stone carving art, historical background and artistic value of these ancient masterpieces.

Cruise Xixi Wetland Park

Later, drive 25 minutes to Xixi Wetland Park, affectionately called “Hangzhou's Kidney” and a rare urban wetland preserving natural ecology and water town culture. Spanning 11.5 square kilometers, it features crisscrossing waterways, endless reed marshes, blooming lotus ponds and ancient water villages with white walls and black tiles. Board a private electric boat and glide through quiet canals; your guide delivers live commentary on wetland ecology, water town farming culture and local residents' traditional way of life. Explore three key highlights: wild Shentan Kou with pristine natural scenery, the seven-story Hezhu Pagoda offering panoramic wetland views, and Hezhu Street with old shops and local snacks. Your guide points out hidden bird-watching spots, exclusive photo angles and tells stories of Xixi's history as a water town, ensuring you fully immerse in the peaceful natural and cultural charm of the wetland.

After the tour, drive back to your hotel for rest.

A peaceful escape from Hangzhou

We wanted to visit Putuo Mountain but were worried about the complicated transportation connections from Hangzhou. This private tour made everything much easier. The driver picked us up from our hotel in the morning, helped us with the ferry transfer, and explained what to expect before arriving on the island. Putuo Mountain itself was beautiful and peaceful. Walking through the temples surrounded by trees and hearing the ocean nearby was a very special experience. We never felt rushed, which made the trip much more enjoyable.

Thank you, Elara! We're glad we could make your journey to Putuo Mountain smooth and relaxing. The ferry transfer can be confusing for first-time visitors, so we're happy that our team could take care of the details and let you focus on enjoying the temples, forests, and coastal scenery.

Questions about Putuo Island

Hi, I'm interested in this private tour because we would like to experience the cultural side of Putuo Island rather than just visit the famous spots. I have a few questions:
1. Are the temples on Putuo Island very crowded? Is there a better time of day to visit them?
2. Do we need to follow any special rules when visiting Buddhist temples?
3. Will we have time to enjoy the seaside scenery, or is the itinerary mainly focused on temples?

Hi Caelan,
Thank you for your questions! We really appreciate that you are interested in experiencing the deeper cultural side of Putuo Island. It is not only a Buddhist destination but also a beautiful island with forests, beaches, and coastal scenery.
1. The main temples, especially Puji Temple, can become busy during weekends and holiday periods. To provide a better experience, our guide will usually arrange the sightseeing order according to crowd levels and opening times, allowing you to enjoy quieter moments whenever possible.
2. There are no strict requirements for visitors, but we recommend dressing respectfully and keeping a quieter atmosphere inside the temples. Our guide will also explain some local customs and interesting stories behind the temples, making the visit more meaningful.
3. Absolutely. Besides temples, Putuo Island is famous for its beautiful coastline and natural landscapes. We will include time for seaside walks, scenic viewpoints, and relaxed moments by the ocean, so the experience is not only cultural but also enjoyable.

We would be happy to help you discover a more authentic side of Putuo Island!

One of the best nature trips we have taken in China

Guizhou was a fantastic choice for travelers who want something different from the usual China itinerary. Libo Xiaoqikong was like a natural paradise — clear rivers, waterfalls, and green forests everywhere.
The communication before the trip was excellent. The team answered our questions quickly and helped us prepare for the journey. During the tour, everything was organized but still felt flexible and personal.

A wonderful journey

We traveled as a family and were impressed by how smoothly everything was arranged. The route included beautiful landscapes but was not too exhausting. My favorite part was probably the evening in Huanggang Village. It was very different from the places we had visited before — quiet, traditional, and welcoming. We really enjoyed learning about Dong culture from our guide.
Thank you for making our Guizhou trip so comfortable and memorable.
